Relationships with Ourselves #Matter

Lately, I’ve been thinking about our relationship with ourselves being one of the most important relationships we will ever have. So often, we focus on making sure that we fill the cups of others. We inadvertently neglect to make time to commune with ourselves. It occurred to me today that my inner person desires a love that only I can give. I promised myself that I was worthy of self-love and intentionally focused on being kind to myself. I know it’s hard for us to believe that we’ve been perfectly and wonderfully made when our hearts have been bruised, broken, and replaced by donor hearts. But, honestly, we have. Don’t get me wrong, there are days when I want to throw in the towel; however, my desire to live and make a positive impact on the world is greater than a fleeting moment. Only YOU can do the thing YOU were created to do.

Take the opportunity to view your cardiac event as a life-changing one that allowed you to learn how strong you are. Look at your scar as a badge of honor and embrace that you are not your scars. You are a person who has an opportunity to LIVE. We may have daily struggles but don’t forget to take time to focus on yourself. I strongly believe that our paths were meant to cross so if you’re reading this, don’t let the attack come from within. Friends, I promise to meet you here often in this safe place we’ve created for ourselves. Until then, be kinder to yourself. Give yourself the same grace you give to others.
